Ally underwent scheduled enhancement on Friday, June 20, 2025. With this update, additional Ally features were enabled that were not available when Ally was first launched during the LMS transformation project. The AI Generation of Alternative Descriptions for Images feature provides instructors and administrators with AI-powered suggestions to help them create alternative text for images. When enabled, an “Auto-generate description” option appears in the Instructor Feedback panel for “Images without a description”, providing a suggestion of a possible alternative description. Instructors can make changes to the alt text if they want to edit the provided AI alt text description. These AI-generated suggestions can help instructors quickly create alternative text for non-text content, supporting compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
