iClicker will undergo scheduled enhancement in Fall 2026. With this update, iClicker instructors can use Bluetooth proximity as an attendance check-in method to help confirm that students are physically present in the classroom. Instructors select the approximate classroom size - Small Room, Medium Room, or Large Hall - to set the required proximity range. This provides instructors with an alternative to GPS-based attendance verification. Students check in through the iClicker Student mobile app, while Bluetooth proximity verifies their presence without requiring them to share their GPS location. Because Bluetooth connects students’ devices to the instructor’s iClicker session, students no longer need to rely on an available Wi-Fi network to connect to the polling session.
Important Considerations
- Instructor must start class using the iClicker Desktop app
- Students must check in using the iClicker Student mobile app
- Not compatible with Auto-Run Attendance
- Can be used instead of GPS location verification
