Bruin Learn / Canvas LMS experienced a service incident between January 2024 and July 2025. During this period, a configuration processing discrepancy associated with the Roll Call Attendance tool occurred for institutions using the Canvas LMS, and the “do not count toward the final grade” setting was not correctly copied from Roll Call to Canvas. As a result, Roll Call did not properly apply attendance scores to the final grade in the Canvas Gradebook. This incident occurred only under a very small number of configurations where attendance was set to contribute to the final grade. Attendance records and attendance tracking themselves were not impacted, only their calculation towards a student’s final grade. At UCLA, this issue affected a total of 67 student enrollments in 3 courses between Summer 2024 and Summer 2025. 

All affected instructors have been contacted and informed. The Bruin Learn team is working with the Registrar’s Office to support instructors with any necessary revisions to final grades as a result of this issue.
